Each extraordinary evening brings together two amazing chefs, six delectable courses (2 appetizers, 2 mains and 2 desserts) and food lovers. Each night features a cash bar with beer, wine and cocktails as well as silent auction packages and bourbon raffles. The Finale includes a fun filled auction with amazing packages. HOW IT WORKS:  Each chef prepares an appetizer, main course and a dessert for guests, judges and sponsors. Each evening features secret ingredients that the chefs must incorporate into the dishes.

Behind the scenes: Chefs arrive at Millbrook Manor at 9:00 a.m. the day of their competition. They learn the secret ingredients upon arrival and must have menus written by 10:00 a.m. Chef teams are required to surrender all electronic including cell phones, tablets and laptops to the chef referees until the end of the competition to maintain the integrity of the competition. Guests and culinary judges will vote on each course to decide which chef that evening advances to the next round. Guests enjoy a fun-filled evening with great food, yummy cocktails, lots of excitement and all for a great cause!

WHY: All event proceeds benefit Overflowing Hands’ programs serving children and fighting food insecurity in our local community. Overflowing Hands is a 100% volunteer-led 501(c)(3) organization serving vulnerable children in our neighborhoods, across the United States and around the world. Resources support communities by providing healthy meals and fresh food, access to camps, and leadership development for children and teenagers. During the pandemic Overflowing Hands, US Foods and Rocky Top Catering partnered together to help fight food insecurity and then continued to serve communities in need. One in seven residents in Raleigh are food insecure and one in five children go hungry. Overflowing Hands and Rocky Top Catering are honored with the opportunity to help kids in our local community, responding with disaster relief in western North Carolina and getting creative to serve when there is a need.

A special thanks goes to our presenting sponsor, US Foods, for their invaluable partnership during the pandemic and for supporting Cooking for the Kids! We are excited about our continued partnership and commitment to serving kids and families.
